Kensington Olympia station marked a 157% increase in the number of Overground passengers last year according to a recent report by the Office of Rail Regulation*. The report shows that almost 6million visitors entered or exited the station during the 2011-2012 financial year and Olympia London visitors continue to contribute to the hike in figures. Kicking off 2013 in style, Olympia has seen many of its recent events marking significant increases in visitor figures.
The National Wedding Show took place at Olympia Grand in February and welcomed more than 13,000 brides and grooms-to be across the three day event; a 20% year on year increase. The show saw Downtown Abbey hairstylist Joseph Koniak and London Fashion Week make-up artist Sophia Price take to the stage in the Inspiration Sessions and had over 250 exhibitors making it the biggest wedding show to date.
March welcomed the return of The Telegraph CRUISE Show to Olympia Grand where organiser Escape Events reported a 15% increase in visitor numbers. Over 17,600 travel enthusiasts attended to plan their next cruising adventure with top exhibitors including P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises.
Between 7 – 8 April Natural & Organic Products Europe also took place in the Olympia Grand. This is the largest trade event of its kind and celebrated a hugely successful show with a 20% increase in visitor numbers.
“It’s been a hugely exciting year that started with the high profile relaunch of the venue in January. We’re delighted to welcome so many new – and returning – visitors through our doors and continue to work in partnership with our clients to produce outstanding events. The range of transport options available to our visitors allows us to be one of the most well connected venues in London” said Anna Golden, Earls Court and Olympia Commercial Director.
*The report for the Office of Rail Regulation was collated by Steer Davies Gleave and the figure is based on station entrances and exits during the financial year 2011-2012.
