Ranked among the World’s Best Convention Centres, Belfast Waterfront has successfully achieved the Holy Grail in business, which is turning customers into brand advocates. Excelling at customer service has earned the loyalty of a long list of esteemed clients and more recently helped secure the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) 2013 Spring Scientific Meeting.

Members of the Northern Ireland Branch of the BGS recommended Belfast Waterfront as the host venue for the annual spring meeting. Easy access to key transport links, its sheer size and the members’ own first-hand experience of the venue affirmed the Waterfront as a perfect fit to meet the programmes’ needs.

The award-winning venue welcomed 500 medical experts from across the world to a 3-day international multi-disciplinary conference. Experts gathered to discuss exciting developments relating to the care of older people. During the conference the British Geriatrics Society in collaboration with the British Pain Society launched a guide on pain management in older people for health professionals to adopt as part of an integrated care programme.

“The staff at the Waterfront went above and beyond to deliver an excellent service to our members. From senior management to frontline operational staff, everyone has been friendly, approachable and willing to do what they could to ensure the event is a success. Experiencing such quality service only reinforces the fact that we made the right decision,” said Geraint Collingridge, Conference and Events Manager at British Geriatrics Society.

Jennifer Patterson, Revenue and Business Generation Manager at Belfast Waterfront Conference Centre commented: “As always we are delighted to receive positive feedback and acknowledgement that we exceeded expectations, especially from such an esteemed client. This is even more meaningful knowing personal experiences of the venue enjoyed by local committee members were instrumental in bringing this major conference to Belfast.”

During the month of April, Belfast Waterfront hosted two major medical meetings; the BIG Gastroenterology Conference followed by British Geriatrics Society’s 2013 Spring Scientific Meeting. These events attracted nearly 1,000 delegates and generated £630K, making a major contribution to the economic and social development in Belfast.
