Fixed and wireless connectivity specialist Max WiFi has installed a state of the art system at London’s Tobacco Dock. The 16,000 sq m Grade 1 listed building which was launched as an events venue in October last year, now has the capability for over 2,000 clients with multiple devices, which can be supplemented as and when required.
Richard Hughes from Max WiFi said of the network ‘With a 1Gigabyte fibre optic connection, this now puts Tobacco Dock in an elite class of technically able venues in the UK. With social media, RFID (radio frequency identification) and NFC (near frequency communication) becoming popular technology to use at conferences and exhibitions, this network ensures Tobacco Dock can now host clients who want to use it without the fear of it not working. All facets of communication have been considered and there is also spare fibre and Cat5 capacity to allow AV companies to utilise the network to distribute their services around the building.’
Jonathan Read, Director at Tobacco Dock said ‘After a careful selection process we’re delighted to have chosen Max WiFi to install our cutting-edge data communications network. It means that the venue can now host the most complex and demanding events and exhibitions and clients can rest assured that connectivity won’t be an issue.’
NEC Showcase, a key event in the audio visual industry calendar, which took place on 16th May, was the first to use the system to display cutting edge technology through the NEC solutions partners for a wide range of industries from retail to healthcare to corporate communications. Max WiFi supplied connectivity to all facets of the event from registration, web streaming and general delegate WiFi access.
Jatin Bhatt, Technical Specialist, NEC Display Solutions UK said ‘I was very impressed with Max WiFi during our show. They understood our complicated technical requirements very quickly at initial brief and executed it without a problem on the day. Max WiFi handled a mixture of technical solutions including IPTV network, video conferencing and digital signage which showed the team’s high competence and versatility.’
Max WiFi has installed over 5kms of permanent cabling and 39 state of the art dual radio wireless access points. All event spaces within Tobacco Dock are now covered for wireless and wired connectivity making the venue one of the best connected in the UK. Max WiFi will also manage the contract overseeing, maintaining and supplementing it as required.
Max WiFi delivers fail-safe communications and does not gamble with clients’ reputations. Managing Director Richard Hughes cut his teeth in the world of the internet working at BT for BTnetback in 1996. His knowledge of temporary and fixed wireless communications for events is second to none and Max WiFi frequently delivers networks internationally.
