EventCity in Manchester has installed a bespoke, high specification, ‘Gold Standard’ Changes Places toilet facility at the venue.
The venue saw the need to include a Changing Places toilet facility after recognising that many current facilities in venues across the UK are difficult for disabled people and carers to use.
The new purpose built Changing Places toilet facility is accessed by a radar key and is in an easily accessible ground floor location close to the venue entrance and boasts market leading and stylish equipment such as; a height adjustable changing bench, a peninsular, hands free washer – dryer toilet system, height adjustable wash hand basin with temperature controlled thermostatic valves and a hoisting system that covers the complete 16 sq m floor space.
The Changing Places toilet facility was designed and installed by Specialist Bathing Solutions who specialise in all aspects of bathroom adaptations for the elderly, disabled and people with special needs. Specialist Bathing Solutions has built its reputation on providing impartial advice, informed expertise and consistently high quality solutions, from specialist baths or wet floor rooms to complete disabled bathroom adaptations.
Dawn Fidler who has tirelessly raised money for her son Joshua Wilson to adapt their home and has also recently set up a new charity, www.thumbraisers.org.uk (initiative of the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity) visited the new toilet facility at EventCity. Dawn said the charity has two objectives, one is to help with advice and raise money for adaptations, the second objective of the charity, is to assess and grade `Changing Places toilet facilities.” Having visited and used several of these toilets throughout the UK, Dawn commented, “This is the best changing friendly toilet facility I have seen. It is spacious, fully accessible and has been over accommodated for changing needs.” Dawn was proud to say “Joshua’s way of rating is to raise his thumb and has rated this toilet facility with a big 3 thumbs up, thumb raiser rating, which means the facility is of an excellent standard”
Andy Orr, Managing Director at Event City said “We have invested heavily in the development of EventCity and part of our investments extend to providing first class facilities to our visitors. Providing a high quality disabled facility here makes a real difference to our disabled visitors and I am sure the efforts we have gone to ensure this facility is the best it can be can be seen. Specialist Bathing Solutions have done an excellent job here and provided an excellent facility”.
Wayne Goldman, Director of Specialist Bathing Solutions, said “EventCity’s briefing was clear, a functional toilet facility that is beneficial both to the user and carer, that looks good and has a personal touch.” Wayne continued “After visiting and researching several Changing Places facilities throughout the UK, I felt the bar needed to be raised and feel Specialist Bathing Solutions have achieved that, offering touches that make the difference”.
