The winner of the 2012 edition of the EmiratesSkills National Competition graphic design category, Manar Almajidi, has received her prize of a trip to the UK graphics department of international event and exhibition supplier Global Experience Specialists (GES).

Formerly Melville Middle East, the UAE division of GES was one of the sponsors of the EmiratesSkills National Competition in 2012. The prizewinner has undertaken a twelve-day trip to the UK, during which she visited the company’s graphics operations in London and Coventry. As part of her visit, Manar Almajidi had the opportunity to gain key new skills and information in areas such as business and design, as well as insight into how graphic design plays an important part in the international event and exhibition industry.

GES managing director in the Middle East, Yasser al Maaytah, said, “Graphic design plays a vital role within our industry. We were delighted to support the EmiratesSkills National Competition 2012 and to be able to offer Manar the opportunity to see how graphic design is incorporated into the live event industry at first hand. GES is a truly international business and we have a substantial graphics operation in the UK. Manar has been able to gain valuable experience and knowledge into just how important graphic design is in our business.”

Annually the EmiratesSkills National Competition attracts young men and women from across the nation to compete in 9 categories, evaluated and judged by a technical committee and internationally accredited experts.
