EmiratesSkills delivered by GES for the second time

The UAE team at Global Experience Specialists (GES), formerly Melville Middle East, has again successfully delivered the EmiratesSkills National Competition in 2013. This annual competition attracts over 20,000 visitors who watch more than 400 young people from across the nation, both young men and women, as they compete in 19 skill categories, and are evaluated and judged by a technical committee and internationally accredited experts.

In addition to the significant rewards, the winners are provided with extensive applied training programs related to their skills. The training programs are comprised of workshops designed to develop new skills among competitors which are needed for them to be eligible to join the National team and compete in the international WorldSkills competition. This international competition attracts the highest achievers in more than 40 categories and offers them a platform on which to compete with each other. Worldskills was held in London in 2012 and delivered by GES in the UK, as well as Skills UK later that year.

This year, GES was shortlisted against four other companies and won the contract to construct and fit out the EmiratesSkills National Competition for the second consecutive year based upon its service and delivery at the 2012 events. The contract included the design and delivery of the information areas and desks, ‘have-a-go’ activity areas, graphics, carpeting, directional signs, VIP lounges and the closing ceremony stage and backdrop.

GES managing director in the Middle East, Yasser al Maaytah, said, “EmiratesSkills National Competition is a highly prestigious, large and complex event and we are thrilled to have been awarded this contract for the second year. As a worldwide company we have now delivered three national skills competitions as well as the 2012 WorldSkills in London. With our track record and experience, we were delighted to deliver EmiratesSkills National Competition 2013.”
