CWIEME Berlin sees significant growth in exhibitor and visitor numbers

i2i Events Group delivered growth in both exhibitor and visitor numbers at CWIEME Berlin (Coil Winding, Insulations and Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition), when it took place from 4 – 6 June 2013, at Berlin Messe.  Berlin was the first CWIEME event run by i2i Events Group, following their acquisition of the portfolio in September 2012.

Targeted investment from i2i results in increased visitor and exhibitor numbers

Eighteen years of continuous growth have made CWIEME Berlin the largest and most influential trade show and conference in the world, serving the industrial technology niche of components for electric motors and transformers and it has an unparalleled global reach with 60% of visitors coming from outside Germany.  With additional investment in content and targeted marketing, and a focus on further increasing the international presence at the event, i2i achieved an increase in exhibitor numbers to 750, with an overall increase in space of 16%.  Visitor numbers also increased by some 22% to over 6,100, making this year’s show the biggest on record.  Exhibitors included leading industry names: Shell, ThyssenKrupp, Von Roll, Cogent Power (part of Tata Steel) and ABB, and visitors came from over 87 countries, maintaining CWIEME Berlin’s reputation as a truly global event.

New look Inductica conference programme welcomes leading speakers

In a move to attract additional high quality visitors, a new series of conferences, seminars and workshops was launched this year as part of the Inductica programme, to provide insight into latest developments, current trends and best practice.

One of the highlights of the programme this year, which featured over 30 external speakers, was the opportunity to hear from speaker Ron Allum, an Australian engineer who has played a key role in some of the most daring and audacious explorations of our planet.  Allum described how he and his team overcame the difficulties of designing electrical systems that could cope with some of the most demanding conditions imaginable – co-designing, building and piloting the Deepsea Challenger submersible, which took Hollywood Director, James Cameron to the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific, in March 2012.  Other speakers came from organisations including the University of Southampton, the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security and Siemens AG.

Portfolio Director, Haf Cennydd comments, “This was the first CWIEME event to be run by i2i and we have been delighted with the response from the industry and their continuing commitment to the event.  By combining the excellent track record of CWIEME Berlin with the benefits of the i2i infrastructure, access to additional global markets through our network of offices and a renewed focus on the content of the event, we believe that 2013 marked the beginning of a new era for CWIEME Berlin and indeed for the whole portfolio.”

Timothy House, CWIEME Founder, also commented, “I am delighted to see that the first CWIEME event to be run by i2i Events Group was a success.  I was always confident that i2i would bring a new dynamic to the portfolio and this has certainly been borne out at CWIEME Berlin.”
