The Wellcome Trust Conference Centre, Hinxton, has announced two new appointments to its events team as a result of growing demand for scientific conferences at the venue.
Kelly Toombs joins the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre as event sales coordinator from a role within the travel industry specialising in student tours. A second event sales coordinator, Sarah Okyere, joins the events team with over five years of travel experience, having previously worked as a tour consultant in an operations team which specialised in higher education and pilgrimage travel.
Kelly and Sarah will work with the sales and marketing manager and the operations teams at the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre, Hinxton, to ensure events are effectively managed within the venue. Key responsibilities will also include supporting, assisting and advising clients on how to run effective events, and assisting with the management of client accounts to achieve annual business targets and effective contract management under the direction of sales and marketing manager Linda Prior.
Linda Prior, sales and marketing manager of The Wellcome Trust Conference Centre, Hinxton, said: “We’re pleased to recruit two new event sales coordinators to the events team at the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre. We’re currently undergoing a period of great change at the venue, illustrated predominantly by major refurbishment of the restaurant and conference centre, and the construction of 64 new bedrooms, due for completion in November 2013. As a result, the new members of staff will have major roles in supporting the Conference Centre at this pivotal time.’
