FESPA, the annual summit and exhibition for the European wide format digital print industry, came to ExCeL London in June 2013, opening its doors to 20,000 print professionals for 3 days from 26th to 29th June.
Aztec Event Services, the Mitcham based event technology firm, was selected as official contractor to FESPA for the fourth time, after successfully delivering AV services to FESPA 2009, 2010 and 2011 in Amsterdam, Munich and Hamburg respectively.
In a massive operation that required two 18 tonne HGVs filled with equipment, Aztec’s 9 technicians and managers installed comprehensive AV facilities for a dozen seminar rooms and feature areas, installed the AV and built the stage and set for two award shows and supplied AV equipment to over 30 exhibitors. In addition, Aztec managed the AV for dozens of mini events in the gallery rooms, temporarily installing PAs, projectors and displays as required.
Aztec also installed an exterior PA to welcome visitors to the show on the first day, and collaborated with the company filming the event by supplying it with feeds from the on-screen presentations at the seminars and events.
Comprehensive planning with the organisers ensured the smooth running of all the AV at the show, as Aztec’s sales director Leo Speck was keen to emphasise, “We began planning for FESPA in September 2012, working with the organisers to ensure every detail was covered, right down to the music stings for the award shows and the welcoming PA outside the show on the opening morning. Exhaustive preparation and planning is vital to our success in delivering faultless AV on this scale.”
