GES partnered with international exhibition organiser UBM to create the Business4Better UK event, a platform for businesses and not for profit organisations to come together to establish partnerships to benefit the wider community, held at Olympia, London, between 9-10 July 2013.
UBM’s decision to choose GES for the role reflects GES’ commitment to corporate social responsibility, sustainability and welfare, and its resulting close alignment with the purposes of the event, namely enabling medium sized enterprises to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to operate economically and environmentally sustainable businesses with a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Business4Better UK is a two day event aimed at helping businesses develop the knowledge and competencies they need to live up to their corporate social responsibility, both within their businesses and in their relations with the local and wider community. Delegates heard keynote addresses from innovators in business-non profit partnerships and main stage super sessions that inspired and “made the case” for a new way of doing business through community engagement and social purpose.
Tracy Bebbington, Buisness4Better UK event manager commented, “GES delivered our vision for the event, to evolve from the traditional exhibition format and create an inspiring environment where visitors and exhibitors are motivated to work together.”
“We wanted an economical and low impact solution that matched the ethos of the event but we didn’t want it to look like rows of shell scheme. The final designs gave the show a welcoming feel and the exhibitors could reuse their graphics afterwards,” added Bebbington.
GES designed and built all the stands, theatres and feature areas – using sustainable solutions including SmartWire, recyclable carpet, and all features built from GES’s aluminium Edge system which used re-board for the graphic panels. GES worked closely with the exhibitors to create bespoke graphics that they could take away from the event and reuse.
Andy Gibb, managing director of GES in the UK, was clearly very pleased at UBM’s decision to select GES as its official partner and the success of the event, “We worked very hard to include the maximum possible added value for UBM and its exhibitors, highlighting our close alignment with the ethos of the event and reflecting the wider partnership established between UBM and GES.”
