ACC Liverpool has confirmed the return of NHS Confederation – one of the most high profile healthcare conferences in the UK – for the fourth time.
Around 2,500 delegates are expected to attend the conference from June 4 – 6 next year, estimated to be worth £4.7m to the local economy.
NHS Confederation held its annual conference and exhibition at the venue, home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, in June this year, welcoming 2,500 delegates. Speakers included Jeremy Hunt MP, secretary of state for health, and shadow health secretary Andy Burnham MP.
The event brings together healthcare leaders from across the NHS to discuss the evolving NHS landscape and share best practice. Its previous visits to ACC Liverpool were in 2009 and 2010.
Matt Tee, chief operating officer at the NHS Confederation, said: “Our decision to return to ACC Liverpool is based on past good experiences at the venue over the years. They understand our requirements which enables us to focus on the running of the event to ensure delegates enjoy a positive experience.”
The news comes after ACC Liverpool recently confirmed four medical associations will return to the venue. The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) conference, the largest oncology conference in the UK, will return this year and again in 2014. The British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) will return in 2016 and 2019; the British HIV Association (BHIVA) and the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) will hold their third joint conference at ACC Liverpool in 2014 and the British Society of Immunology will return in 2013, 2016 and 2019.
Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, said: “This year’s NHS Confederation conference saw the space across BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena used to accommodate the 2,500 delegates for conference and more than 130 exhibitors. We are already working with the NHS Confederation to ensure another successful event in 2014.
“As well as being fantastic to host, NHS Confederation helps to raise the profile of the city through its varied programme of significant speakers and important issues.”
