The first Manchester Pet Show held at EventCity on the 7th & 8th September has been hailed a success by show organisers.
The ultimate pet extravaganza brought together two action packed days of entertainment for pet lovers, with over 100 stands, agility demonstrations, grooming advice, activity zones, seminars and opportunities to meet heroic 4-legged friends.
Visitors were also able to get up close to Alpacas, Chinchillas, Huskies, and enter a regional heat of Scruffts, meet Safari Phil and all his critters, and see over 30 breeds of budgie, 20 breeds of Pedigree Dogs and 10 breeds of Pedigree Cats! There was also the chance to take a sneak peak at Animal Planets up and coming shows.
Carrie Mosley, Managing Director for the Manchester Pet Show said: “As a year one show we absolutely delivered beyond expectations; recruiting the support of a headline and sub sponsors, national media partners, major brands and increasing capacity by 240% due to exhibitor demand – vast evidence a northern pet show attracts attention.
“Equally the show did not disappoint from either side with thousands of visitors staying on site for hours to encounter hundreds of different animals and exhibitors entertaining an audience of 2-3 deep was a regular occurrence.
“As we digest the success of the launch show, a cat nap would be massively welcome but there’s a few wagging tails that want to discuss our plans for the future!”
Hazel McKay whose daughter Jerrica entered their dog Tina into Scruffts and won 3rd in class in the Child’s Best Friend category and 2nd in class in the Best Crossbreed Rescue said, “We adopted Tina about a year ago from the Dog’s Trust and from the moment she arrived she has been a member of the family. We had a fantastic day at the show, there was so much to see and do and Tina winning just made the day even more enjoyable for us”.
Safari Phil said: “I’m delighted with how The Manchester Pet Show went this weekend, we had consistent footfall throughout the whole show and so many visitors expressed what a great time they were having. We were really busy all weekend and people really engaged in the animals and interactive workshops on offer. It was a hugely successful event for all and one which we would be delighted to exhibit at again next year!”
Claire Winman from The International Cat Association said: “I think the organisers did an awesome job and should be very proud. My TICA team were very impressed with the venue and the MPS staff. I hope the cats proved popular, they certainly had a lot of strokes and photos taken all weekend.”
