The 50+ Show, a lifestyle event targeted specifically at the retired population, will take place at the NEC in Birmingham for the first time on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 December 2013.
An established exhibition, it was originally titled “The Retirement Show” and was launched in London six years ago before expanding to Manchester, Glasgow, Exeter and now the NEC, the UK’s best connected venue.
Following an in-depth survey of visitors and exhibitors, it was re-named and re-launched as The 50+ Show in April 2011 and was subsequently shortlisted in the “Best Consumer Show” category at the 2012 Exhibition News Awards.
The move to the Midlands is testament to the NEC’s accessibility and the fact that 75% of the population live within a three-hour drive time of the venue, in addition to the success of the show and the demand from visitors and exhibitors to get involved.
Reina Villanueva, Marketing Manager for The 50+ Show, said: “The central location of the NEC ensured it was the sensible choice for us. First and foremost we’re focusing our attention on the Midlands’ retired community, but the NEC’s impressive transport links – which are perfect for this audience – ensure we’re accessible for those based further afield too.”
David Gallagher, NEC Account Manager (Exhibitions), added: “We’re easily the most conveniently located venue in the country which was a major factor in attracting the target audience for this show. 75% of the UK’s population live within a three-hour drive time of the venue and we have over 16,500 car parking space for visitors.
“In addition, the fact that we’re connected to both Birmingham Airport and Birmingham International Railway Station ensures that we’re at the heart of the transport network. Getting to the NEC is easy, which was a crucial selling point for the organisers who are focused on attracting the retired community.”
The popular 50+ Travel Show is also incorporated within each of the 50+ Shows across the country and will showcase the best options for travel for those in the 50+ age band.
