HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL 2021 will take place at the Tokyo Midtown Hibiya Step Plaza from October 22 to 29, 2021.
The 4th edition of HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL, which has attracted a total of about 3.5 million visitors over the past three years, now proposes new ways to enjoy movies.
The festival will mark the debut of the new project – “Park Cinema”, the modern and time-appropriate take on classic cinema. A special addition to the seating arrangement is the family zone – with tables and a playground, spread over the lawn area. What can be a better way to spend time than to watch movies for free with your friends and family in a little open-air oasis in the middle of Tokyo?
A total of five films are scheduled to be screened, including The Goonies, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and everybody’s favorite – Minions.
In addition, a selection of the most popular works from the Toronto Japanese Film Festival which was held in June in Canada will be shown within the frame of Toronto Japanese Film Festival in Hibiya along with the live stream of director’s talk show.
Related events include “KINEJUN Library in Hibiya,” an exhibition of the “Kinema Junpo” – the Japan’s oldest film and cinema specialty magazine reporting on the film industry in Japan and announcing new movies and trends since July 1919.
After the event and starting from October 30 the International Film Festival will be moving its main venues to Hibiya, Yurakucho and Ginza areas.
