CES 2022, the world’s largest technology exhibition organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8, 2022.
Last year, CES 2021 was held in a virtual format.
From Japan, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will have a Japan pavilion with 52 startups, alongside other exhibitors including the Asahi Kasei Group, Toyota Boshoku, and SkyDrive, a company that develops flying cars.
Due to the spread of the Omicron strain, a number of companies have cancelled their participation completely or will be taking part in the online format. Along those are widely known names such as Amazon, Meta (formerly Facebook), Microsoft, Google, Intel, Twitter, General Motors (GM), etc.
The CTA responded with a statement on December 22, saying, “We have had 42 cancellations which makes less than 7% of the total, while have added 60 new exhibitors.”
More than 2,200 companies are expected to participate in this onsite exhibition, which will be held in line with infection prevention and control guidelines
