1,900 booths from 465 domestic and foreign companies are expected in this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
The official website for visitors of the Tokyo Game Show went live on July 6. The show itself is set to take place from September 15 to 18, 2022 at Makuhari Messe.
The venue of the 2021 edition was open only to influencers and the press, making this year the first time since 2019 a fully in-person event.
As of July 6, a total of 465 exhibitors, 299 from Japan and 166 from abroad, have confirmed their participation. The scale of the exhibition has been expanded to 1902 booths, far exceeding the initial estimate of 1500 booths.
A record number of 583 participants submitted for the “Indie Game Selection Exhibit,” which allows indie game producers to exhibit free of charge. 81 participants were selected as a result of the selection process.
The main visual will be provided by the illustrator Kukka, who had been selected for the third year in a row.
