ONE PIECE, Hello Kitty wins Japan Merchandising Rights Association award

On February 4, Japan Merchandising Rights Association announced ‘Japan Merchandising Rights Association award’.
Among the characters made in Japan which played an important role at home and overseas in 2012, the association made honorable recognition of the organizations and individuals who carried out policy measures to promote the attractive forces for customers.

Four prize-winning works are nominated from 141 properties and about 500 literary works in total and were short-listed after the first and the second round.

Akihiro Kamei, a professor emeritus at Waseda University and the chairman of the awards committee said, “this award was started as a memorial event, but I hope it will continue.”
