The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) has won the Best Hospitality Venue of the Year Award at the third annual City of Manchester Business Awards, hosted by business club Downtown Manchester in Business.
Taking place at the prestigious Hilton Manchester Deansgate hotel, the awards recognise the outstanding achievements of Manchester’s businesses from the past 12 months. Entrants were judged upon a public vote in order to make the shortlist, followed by a combination of 50% votes and 50% opinions of a judging panel. MOSI saw off stiff competition from venues including MCFC Events, Australasia and Restaurant Bar & Grill to win in the Best Hospitality Venue of the Year category.
MOSI, part of Lime Venue Portfolio, has invested £8.5 million into extensive redevelopments of the museum’s visitor and conference facilities, including a brand new Conference Centre, which can host functions for up to 400 people in the atmospheric former warehouse. The redevelopments were launched in January 2011, and the completion of two new galleries now means the venue can cater for functions for up to 1,000 delegates.
Downtown Manchester in Business was launched in March 2010 as a business club providing fresh and independent leadership to the private sector, facilitating networking opportunities, and helping encourage entrepreneurial spirit in the city.

Lime Venue Portfolio is the collection of venues encompassing many of the UK’s most significant stadia and historic treasure houses. Current venues include Edgbaston, Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Edinburgh Zoo, Dartmouth House, Stationers’ Hall, Beaulieu, Epsom Downs and Cheltenham Racecourse.
